Handy Hints When Selling

There are some little ideas that can make a big difference, when presenting your property for sale. Part of our service at Generate is to help you throughout this process, but here’s a few hints to get you started.

  1. Street Appeal

Many buyers will drive past a property, prior to the Open Home, so it’s vitally important to make a good impression! Tick these items off your to-do list, when preparing your property for sale:

  • Mow and edge the lawns
  • Weed and mulch the gardens
  • Clean or paint the letterbox
  • Replace any fallen or damaged fence palings
  • Paint the front fence or garden edging
  • Pressure clean the driveway
  • Sweep and cobweb the entrance
  • Invest in a new front doormat

Placing a couple of nice pot plants either side of the front door, can also help to create a welcoming entryway.

  1. Clean and Tidy

As well as your normal cleaning routine, make sure to clean the windows, bathroom mirrors and glass shower screens. These small things may seem insignificant, but dirty windows will really stand out when your property is photographed.

Sweep, mop and vacuum. Again, clean floors will look wonderful in the photos and during inspections, so making your property look like a clean and pleasant place to be, will help buyers to connect well with the home.

  1. Declutter

When preparing your property for sale, it’s a good time to declutter as much as possible. Messy cupboards and clutter can give the impression that the property does not have enough storage space. Organising the linen cupboard, wardrobes and garage area will enhance the look of space on offer. Storage space is always looked upon favourably by prospective buyers. Perhaps hold a Garage Sale or donate some items to charity – either way, it will reduce the amount of belongings you’ll need to move house with!
